Course will discuss and demonstrate how to conduct effective treatment for adolescents (ages of 13 and 21) using CBT and DBT. The course will explore the clinical and theoretical aspects of the treatment of adolescents and their families. This course reviews early theoretical understandings of adolescence, examines contemporary research on normal adolescent development, and explores modern theoretical conceptions of adolescence. The course then focuses on contemporary adolescent treatment from interpersonal, self-psychological and DBT/mind-body viewpoints. Participants will learn how to develop a conceptualization based on the cognitive model and how to implement in treatment.
