The faculty in each Practice Method have articulated guidelines for the development of student assignments in the field, which enable students to develop knowledge and skills, and gain core and advanced competencies consistent with the curriculum taught in the classroom. Recording assignments in the field practicum setting – known as process recordings – are an essential social work tool that furthers accountability in learning while enhancing social service delivery. Students and field instructors use recoding assignments purposefully, with specific learning objectives in mind.
Sample process recordings are provided below, including both verbatim and narrative process recording samples for each Practice Method. Students and their field instructors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these samples, and utilize them when designing and completing process recording assignments in the field practicum.
