The Silberman SSW is extremely proud of its talented alumni. Over 90% of our alumni have remained in New York City and its environs to populate the social work workforce. The School counts among its graduates some of the leading social workers in child welfare, mental health, health services to older adults, and services to refugees and immigrant communities. We lead the city in producing group workers and community organizers for practice. Many graduates work in government, on the senior staff of local politicians, and in advocacy organizations. There is hardly an organization or human service agency without its cadre of fine Silberman-trained social workers. Many of our MSW graduates return to Silberman to teach as field instructors or to enroll in our PhD program.
Graduating students become Silberman Alumni. Silberman Alumni are entitled to a variety of benefits:
- The Alumni Card will entitle you to free use of the Hunter College libraries
- Invitation to Job Fairs
- Licensing Preparation Courses
- Acceptance into Silberman SSW Facebook and LinkedIn groups where jobs are posted
- Special invitations to our Alumni Lectures and Networking Events
- Access to our Online Alumni eNewsletter
All Silberman students and alumni are urged to attend the annual MSW Job Fair, co-sponsored by Silberman and other New York schools of social work, during the spring semester. All Silberman students are invited to attend the fall and spring Career Fairs sponsored by the Hunter College Office of Career Development Services. The School also offers career workshops during Common Time throughout the year for students and alumni. In addition, the Office of Career Development Services (at 68th Street) is also available throughout the year to meet with both students and alumni to offer coaching, interview preparation, and networking tactics to job seekers.
