Organized by the U.S. Basic Income Guarantee Network, Basic Income Canada, and SSSW Associate Professor Michael A. Lewis, this year’s Congress will bring together researchers, activists, policymakers and students from around North America and around the world who focus on universal basic income guarantee (BIG) policy.

Featured speakers include: Andy Stern, former President of SEIU; Chris Hughes, Facebook co-founder; Ian Bassin of Give Directly; Karl Widerquist, BIEN; Diane Pagen, Basic Income Action; Natalie Foster, advisor to the Aspen Institute Future of Work Initiative and the Open Society Foundations; Michael A. Lewis, Associate Professor, SSSW; Frances Fox Piven, Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Sociology, CUNY Graduate Center; and Juliana Bidadanure, Stanford University.


CEUs (Continuing Education Units) will be available to eligible social workers who attend. The Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College is recognized by the New York State Education Department’s State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers (#0148).

Disclaimer: CEU approval is subject to individual state requirements. Social workers who are licensed outside of New York State can request CEU credit from their state’s Office of the Profession, using a letter the SSSW Continuing Education Office will provide. Out-of-state social workers are not guaranteed CEU approval for attending this conference.
