Research

Dr. Brown-Manning’s current research is concentrated in two areas. Building from her dissertation, she continues to study African American families and networks of care. She takes particular interest in the emotional and social experiences of African American mothers raising young men under conditions of structural inequality. In addition to this area of inquiry, Dr. Brown-Manning also plans to pursue research on the role of physical space and environment in social service organizations and their work.
